As I reflect on the year behind us, I find that I am thankful for many things! My family, our health, & secure jobs rank right up at the top but I am especially thankful for all the girlfriends in my life. I am so very fortunate to have friends who are a consistent part of my life throughout all the daily ups and downs. However, sometimes those that we consider friends appear to enter, then depart from our lives for reasons we try to, but don't always, understand. Those people come into your life for either a reason, a season or a lifetime and it takes a little bit of time to figure out which category they all fit into.I'm sure you all have gotten this email at one time or another:
Then people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it because it is real! But, only for a season.
LIFETIME friends teach you lifetime lessons: things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
Every girlfriend of mine has proven true of each of these catagories & sometimes it took me several months to figure out why certain people entered my life & why they left. They all seem to have come along or have been there at a time when I needed them most & for that I am grateful. On the flipside, I am saddened at the friendships that have grown distant throughout the year or have even ended. I still think often of these wonderful girls and am glad they were in my life if not for just a season!
